Ostend at Anchor

Ostend at Anchor is a free maritime event at the Belgian coast with more than 300 sailing and steam ships of which many authentic with a high historical value, are presented to the general public. eg. The over 100 year old Dutch steam tugs' Rosalie 'and' Hercules' will be puffing around , just like the British VIC 96 'and the Dutch'Hydrograaf', a vessel of the Dutch Navy still used as yacht for the royal family.

 

Besides the possibility to visit, or even to sail these boats, there are bands, craftsmen and numerous other activities linked to the sea.

 

On the quays steam machines will maneuvering and from Ostend station steam trains start. Outside there are numerous performances of music by the sea, a nautical market and a water heritage village and ship handicrafts and marine painters.
